With the completion of our renovations it is appropriate that we say thanks for the great job that you and the team have executed.  But that statement is not enough to cover the comings and goings on a project like this:

• The calibre of the staff and contractors you brought on site – at no stage did we feel uncomfortable in their presence.
• Your team always had suggestions on better/other ways to overcome obstacles.
• When difficulties arose (as they must inevitably do on a job like this) we were able to sit down, nut out a solution and a fair allocation of costs.
• The team’s determination to complete various tasks in the face of some appalling weather was nothing less than inspirational – in particular the driveway and turf completion in the driving rain.
• Your managerial style – prepared to tackle our demands head on yet to hold your contractors to account and defend them when necessary was great.

We would like to formally thank you very much for doing such an excellent job with our house renovation.  We are loving living here now and you have helped us make the house feel like a new home after a long period of renting.

You came well recommend to us and it is clear now having chosen you to do our renovation why.  The quality of the product you delivered was excellent and is no doubt a function of your dedication, skill and experience as a builder.  You have a great deal of pride in your workmanship and we felt as though you were putting in the same effort as you would renovating your own home.  In particular, there were a range of areas where we thought you were particularly good and thought it would be good to list them for you in this letter so that you know they were very much appreciated.

You clearly have a very good attention to detail and seemed to manage effortlessly to manage both the big picture project management as well as the detailed work of your crew and tradespeople equally well.

You have developed strong relationships with high quality tradespeople who speak very highly of you, know that you expect a high quality job and enjoy working for you.  From what we could see, your workers and chosen tradespeople were all skilled, trustworthy, polite and friendly.

We did not appreciated how many decisions there are to be made in a house renovation project in addition to the obvious large decisions.  You were great in making sure those decisions were always ours (even for the little things).  Most importantly, you provided options, pros and cons and a recommendation for each decision that we had not considered or did not have an independent view on.  Either your taste is similar to ours or you were able to understand our taste and make recommendations accordingly, because at least 9 times out of 10, we went with your suggestion and are very happy with the result.

You appeared to thrive on the challenge of renovating an old character house like ours with the complications of the existing structure you had to work with often not being straight or level.

We really appreciate that you were able to fit us in to your schedule and bust a gut to get us in prior to Christmas.

Once again thanks for doing such an excellent job on our renovations.  You typically only hear war stories of people’s renovation but in our experience, we have been more than satisfied from start to finish, in large part due to our choosing you as our builder.  You made the whole process very easy for us and we always felt informed and in control.

Your work speaks for itself and I am sure you will never have trouble finding good work.  Nonetheless, we will certainly recommend you to anyone we know that is looking for a builder.  If you are ever looking for a referee or would like to show a prospective client through our house so they can see the quality of your work or a particular finish, please do not hesitate to ask.

We cannot praise you enough for the care and understanding we have received from you as you have carried out the work.

In particular we would like to thank you for your advice regarding polishing the floor boards and helping to choose the paint colours.  Thanks also for the time and effort you and your cabinet maker put into working out the kitchen layout.  We believe it has the “WOW” factor.

The tradespeople you employed were always friendly and willing to show us around and assist us in any way on the occasions we came to see the work in progress.

As a builder we consider your work to be top class and your ethics beyond reproach.  Your father has taught you well.  Please feel free to use us as a reference, regarding your work at any time.

We knew when we embarked on - what was for us a major project - the almost complete demolition, and renovation of our home, that it would be a major upheaval bringing with it an enormous number of decisions and stressful situations. 

One of the best decisions we made was choosing you as our builder.

Thank you so much for making this project of ours a truly interesting and enjoyable process.  

For every problem there was a good solution. No issue was never not resolvable and/or improved upon.  The end result was everything we wanted, delivered on time, on budget, no disputes. 

After hearing a number of renovation horror stories, it does tend to make one a little nervous of the process.  In our experience with you and your team, this scenario could not be further from our reality. We are thrilled with what you and your team have done, and how throughout you’ve made what could’ve been quite an overwhelming experience all seem quite normal and with very little stress.  

What made a great impression on us, was not only your innate ability to lead, high level of skill and management style, it was the team and contractors associated.  Each and every one was of a high professional calibre, personable and easy to deal with.  We understand that these relationships have spanned many, many years, and the level of understanding and trust of all parties was apparent throughout.
